What happens the first time
- Open the disk image and drag Merriweather into Applications.
Then open it from Applications. It installs once for the whole Mac.
- macOS checks the signature.
The app is signed with our Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so Gatekeeper opens it without a warning. If macOS says a copy is damaged or from an unidentified developer, do not open it. Download it again from this site.
- Look for the mark in the menu bar.
Merriweather has no Dock icon while its windows are closed.
- Two short forms appear in turn.
Configure Merriweather is about you; only your name is required. Configure an Engagement is about the partner you work for. Choose Start observing.
- The Mac asks for each permission when it is first needed.
Accessibility, to see which app and window are in front. Screen Recording, to see meeting windows in the background; it takes no screenshots, and the app needs a relaunch after you grant it. Microphone, for your side of a meeting you ask it to remember. System Audio Recording, for the other side, asked the first time a meeting is remembered. Calendars, for meeting titles, times, and attendees. Notifications, for start, stop, and question alerts. Contacts and Reminders are optional and asked only if you switch them on.
Check what you downloaded
Each release is published with its SHA-256 checksum in SHA256SUMS on the download host. To compare, open Terminal and run shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/Merriweather-<version>.dmg. The result should match the line for that file. Download the installer only from this site; do not use copies hosted elsewhere.
